The Keelings - opening entertainmentIce Cream Social by Friends of the Children's Aid SocietyThe National Anthem sung by Jessica Taylor and the audience.The last MCB concert of 2008 began with selections composed by John Williams entitled "Movie Adventures"Jason Michaels, guest conductorMr. Michaels led the band through "The Thunderer"Jennifer Laubenthal, clarinet soloistMs. Laubenthal began with "Concertino for Clarinet"."Lightning Fingers" was a hit with the audience.Ms. Laubenthal received a much deserved ovation from the audience.Ken Jewell, Assistant Director, led the band in "Sleigh Ride" as part of a Christmas in July celebration and a salute to Leroy Anderson.Mr. Jewell also took the band through the very difficult piece, "America" from West Side Story.Dr. Hendley D. Hoge, Director, in his 31st year at the helm."The Whistling Farmer Boy" was a crowd favorite, complete with animal sound effects.Vocal soloist, Dr. Anthony Geramita, bass.Dr. Geramita entertained with selections from "Les Miserables".Dr. Geramita also added "The Impossible Dream".Dr. Hoge and Dr. Geramita led the audience in the singing of "Mairzy Doats".The sun sets on another successful Mercer Community Band season.
