This concert was in honor and memory of twenty-five plus year Mercer Community Band trombonist, Frank Stearns, of Greenville.  Frank directed the Mercer County Historical Society Chamber players and was well-known in the music circles of western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio.  An empty chair, trombone and community band shirt was placed near the bandstand in honor of Mr. Stearns.
