The Youngstown Area Community Concert Band (YACCB) in concert.The YACCB played the first half of the concert at beautiful Boardman Park.Mercer Community Band's master of ceremonies, Dave Portman, introduced the band .Dr. Hendley D. Hoge, MCB director was introduced my Mr. Portman.The Mercer Community Band began the second half of the concert with "The Olympics: A Centennial Celebration" in honor of the 2012 Olympic Games.The band traveled to the concert in style, in two Anderson coach busses.Dr. Hoge, founder and director of the Mercer Community Band, has been at the podium for 35 years of great music.John Stumpff, assistant student director, led the band for one selection.Mr. Doug Butchy, Assistant Director of the Mercer Community Band.Vocal soloist, Jodi Miklas, entertained with "Gershwin in Concert".Ms. Miklas also performed "As Time Goes By".Ms. Miklas also led the audience in the singing of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game."After the concert, the YACCB hosted a picnic for the band at a nearby shelter.Great music and good food - an unbeatable combination.
